Here is a link that tells why just throwing single use batteries in the trash is bad for the environment and our health.

Find a battery recycling center near you. Use the center finder in the top right corner of the page below.

Here is a link about installing a clothesline. I am going to do this as soon as I can. http://www.doityourself.com/stry/puttingupclothesline

If you are not comfortable with a permanent fixture in your yard, they make fold away ones. Check Home Depot's website.

Tip

Use rechargable batteries.

I was asked on another site about carpet cleaning. Here are my suggestions.

One way is a steam mop. It does not use chemicals. Just water! Many come with an attachment for carpet.

For stains use baking soda and peroxide. Test a small spot first for color issues. Also, if the stain is deep it may take several repetitions. However, one good thing is that the peroxide kills the microbes that many other cleaners will leave behind.

Wood floors-vinegar

All of these ideas are safe for babies, pets, and the environment.

Story of Stuff!

1.Buy organic or sustainable food.
2.Go without meat once a week.
3.Read labels—know where your food comes from.
4.Drink more water, fewer sugary beverages.
5.Support companies that treat workers, animals, and the environment with respect.

An extra tip from me:
Use reusable bags at the grocery stores instead of plastic bags. If you forget your bag go for the paper bag which is recyclable.

Mix peroxide with water

Mix vinegar with water

Use a clothes line to dry clothes

Look for dishwashing liquid and laundry detergent without toxins, petrochemicals, bleach, ammonia, or phosphates

Look for bottles that are recyclable and buying concentrated saves packaging

I got the idea for this blog because I have been doing a lot of soul searching and asking a lot of questions lately. All of this has led me on quite an interesting path of discovery and hopefully self change and positive direction. It all started when I began looking into things about 2012. I was worried about the end of times and all that gloom and doom variety. However, instead of gloom and doom I found hope and purpose. I know that we cannot be 100% sure about anything. However, I have found a theory that I am going to stick with. That theory is that we have been damaging and destroying our planet and ignoring personal relationships for professional profitabilty for way too long now and our planet has already begun to lash out at us. The planet cannot sustain the rate/pace in which humans are currently operating. I do, however, think that we still have a small window to redeem ourselves. This blog will focus on ways to help reconnect with our planet, our relationships, and hopefully even our souls. If you are interested in all or part of this mission please keep visiting and recommend this blog to friends. Feel free to take only the bits and pieces that speak to you as well. I am hoping that this blog will be a way for me to release some energy which has been building up as each new day seems to be pointing me in this direction. Hopefully, it will also touch some other lives as well. Thank you so much for stopping by. There is much more to come.
